Scope

The App interface is named Korean Notes. Some system settings screens may still display KoreanWord. Both names refer to the same app.

This Policy covers Korean Notes vocabulary management, search, translation, pronunciation, read-aloud practice, quizzes, video playback, iCloud sync, subscriptions, and support. Third-party sites and services have their own privacy policies.

Information we process

We process the following information to provide App features. Not every type of information applies to every use.

Purposes of processing

• Provide vocabulary storage, organisation, search, translation, pronunciation, quiz, and study features.
• Store and synchronise learning data locally and in your private iCloud database.
• Provide dictionary content through KRdict.
• Generate, retrieve, and cache pronunciation through Pro Voice.
• Verify and manage Korean Notes PRO subscriptions.
• Respond to support requests, fix errors, and maintain service security.
• Comply with applicable law and Apple platform requirements.

Legal bases

Depending on your jurisdiction, we may process information on the basis of:

• Performing our agreement to provide the App or taking steps you request.
• Your consent when granting Camera, Photos, Microphone, and Speech Recognition permissions.
• Our legitimate interests in providing a secure, reliable, and fraud-resistant service.
• Payment, tax, accounting, and legal requirements.
• Your consent or reasonable expectations when you contact support.

Where processing relies on consent, you can withdraw permission through device settings. Withdrawal does not affect processing that occurred before withdrawal.

Sharing and third-party services

We do not sell your personal information. The following services participate only when their functionality is required:

We may also share information in the following circumstances:

• With professional service providers for hosting, security, technical, legal, or accounting support.
• Where we believe in good faith that law, a court order, protection of rights or safety, or fraud prevention requires disclosure.
• If the App or related business is sold, merged, or reorganised, information may transfer to a successor as permitted by law.

We do not represent that every service provider is located in your jurisdiction. These providers may process information outside your jurisdiction under their own policies and applicable transfer mechanisms.

Storage and deletion

To request deletion of information the App cannot delete directly, contact info@melonlab.app. We may need to verify the request and identify the relevant data. Information that must be retained for legal, security, abuse-prevention, or technical reasons may not be immediately deletable.

Security

We use reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect information, including platform permission controls, encrypted transmission, device operating-system protections, and restricted service access. No method of transmission, storage, or processing can be guaranteed completely secure.

You are responsible for protecting your device, Apple Account, and login credentials. Avoid placing sensitive personal information in vocabulary, notes, scanned images, or Pro Voice text.

Your choices and rights

You may also object to or request restriction of processing where applicable law allows and lodge a complaint with the data-protection authority in your jurisdiction. You may have additional rights under local law. We may ask for reasonable proof to verify your identity.

Children's privacy

The App is intended for general Korean-language learners and is not designed specifically for children, nor does it knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided personal information to us, contact us so that we can assess and address the matter.

Policy changes and external links

We may update this Policy as features, service providers, or legal and regulatory requirements change. The updated version will be published on this page with a revised effective date. Where required by law, we will provide additional notice of material changes.

The App or website may link to Apple, KRdict, Cloudflare, ElevenLabs, RevenueCat, or other third-party sites. External sites have their own privacy policies, and we are not responsible for their content or processing practices.
